Tor Ny awarded Erling-Persson research grant

Professor Tor Ny, founder of Omnio, has been awarded €600 k from the Erling-Persson Family Foundation to continue basic research relating to the role of plasminogen in the host defence against infections by bacteria, including multi-resistant bacteria. Plasminogen initiates the inflammatory response, and thus activates the host response against infection. Since plasminogen does not act on bacteria, like antibiotics do, the proposed treatment do not lead to the development and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
